The Big Coloring Book of First Avenue Part 2:

A Benefit for the Twin Cities Music Community Trust

Illustrated by Stacey Combs, Michael Gaughan, and Laura Hauser

This is a follow up to the extremely successful Big Coloring Book of First Avenue which raised over $25,000 in funds for the Twin Cities Music Community Trust. Part 2 is another 28-page masterpiece of coloring and activity-filled pages featuring even more creative fan art of local and national artists such as The Hold Steady, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Bjork, Misfits, Due Saleh, Low, The Black Keys, Grace Jones, Erykah Badu, The Flaming Lips, Gramma’s Boyfriend, GWAR, The Go-Go’s, Melvins, Swamp Dogg, Yam Haus, Morris Day and the Time, INXS, The Strokes, Solid Gold, Queen Latifah, and Bon Iver! This book includes First Avenue themed crossword puzzles, word searches, and Michael Gaughan’s instant classic mural “69 Person Dream Audience at the 7th Street Entry”.

When our friend, Sean Tillmann (aka Har Mar Superstar) approached us about the idea for Coloring Books For a Cause, we thought it was brilliant. The response is such a testament to the Twin Cities community’s desire to support each other. The coloring books are not only amazing—the illustrations by Laura Hauser, Stace of Spades, and Michael Gaughan are incredible—but the net proceeds of each book have been donated to help members of our Twin Cities music community impacted due to canceled gigs. As the first places to close, and most likely the last to open, music venues and our community of artists and employees are amongst those most impacted by COVID-19 job losses.

When we learned that donations from book one sales would be over $25,000, we were completely blown away. All funds are distributed to musicians, production employees, service staff, and others who are completely without funds due to the Coronavirus shutdown. Over 250 grants are in process or have been distributed already! We wanted to share this note of appreciation from a grant recipient, and extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who purchased a coloring book.

“I can’t say thank you enough for the support you are giving artists right now. The past month has been nothing short of devastating, but your generosity and the generosity of others in the community tell me that the Twin Cities music scene will bounce back from this. So truly, thank you, thank you, thank you.”

Thanks to everyone for the initial round of support, we can’t wait to get coloring on The Big Coloring Book of First Avenue Part 2!

About The Artists

Illustrator, Stacey Combs

Stacey Combs

Stacey Combs (AKA stace of spades) is a fine artist & illustrator, hairstylist, and trivia host. While she finds it hard to sit still, much of the work that she does is portraiture (be it humans, dogs, or beer bottles), and she often works with themes of environmentalism, social justice, and compassion. She enjoys eating, hiking, raising butterflies, video games, and, of course, the Minneapolis music scene. You can find her work online at: at and @stace_of_spades on Instagram.
